UMOJA wa Wanawake wa Tanzania (UWT) Secretary-General Jokate Mwegelo has contributed 5m/- towards the construction of the women organisation’s staff house in Tarime district, Mara region.
She made the contribution on Wednesday during her one-day visit of Tarime district where she had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the UWT house.
During her tour, she was accompanied by several Mara regional leaders, who included CCM National Executive Committee member, Christopher Mwita Gachuma.
In her brief speech to Tarime UWT members, Jokate said it was a privilege for her to lay the foundation stone of the UWT staff house.
“This is the first project for me to lay the foundation stone. This house is being built through women’s sweat, and their efforts would not be lost through this project,” she said.
She said she was impressed how dedicated the Tarime women were in undertaking such an ambitious project using the resources they have.
