Two members of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) women wing who are secretaries for Muriba and Nyamwaga wards in Tarime Rural constituency have said that they are not aware of their suspension from the party nor to have been stripped of their titles.
The two Umoja wa Wanawake wa Tanzania leaders, Anna Charles and Patricia Joseph, secretaries for Muriba and Nyamwaga wards, respectively, are alleged to have been suspended and robbed of their titles by the Tarime CCM district executive committee at a meeting held on Sunday.
They are reported to have been accused of indiscipline but when interviewed yesterday they were surprised by the decision of their party. “We’ve have no information about that decision apart from hearing it from several people,” said Anna Charles.
“I’m surprised! I don’t have any accusations from UWT. This is against CCM regulations because if you have done something wrong you’re summoned to defend yourself. I don’t know what’s going on,” she explained.
On her part, Patricia Joseph said she was on safari “and so I’ve no comment. I wasn’t at the meeting, nor was I invited! I’ll have a comment the moment I get information on my suspension and removal of my title,” she said.
When contacted for comment Tarime CCM authorities remained tight-lipped on the matter.
