President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) Commissioner of Conservation, William Simon Mwakilema, the new Korogwe District Commissioner.

Mwakilema takes over from Jokate Mwegelo who was at the weekend named the new secretary general of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party women wing – Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania (UWT).

Mwakilema’s former position at TANAPA has been assigned to then Deputy Commissioner for Services Musa Kuji, who becomes the Acting Commissioner of Conservation.

A State House statement released today said apart from appointments, President Samia also made transfers and dismissal to some senior officials who include District Commissioner, District Executive Directors, District Administrative Secretaries and the Acting TANAPA Commissioner of Conservation.

Sumbawanga District Commissioner Sixtus Mapunda has been transferred to Tameke district in Dar es Salaam to replace Mobhare Matinyi who was at the weekend appointed the Director of Information Services and Government Spokesman.

The President has revoked the appointment of Korogwe District Executive Director Halfani Magani and appointed Singida District Administrative Secretary Goodluck Mwangomango to replace him.

The changes are in line with the president’s people-centred philosophy of efficiency, honesty, and devotion to the welfare of the poor in the society.
