Another Royal Tour film is in the offing, this time to promote the remote Katavi National Park in the Southern Highlands region of Katavi.
This is the decision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan after having seen the existence of massive herds of wild animals roaming the grasslands of the park during her tour of Katavi region.
The president promised yesterday that she would sponsor the Royal Tour film, like she did three years ago, to attract tourists visiting Tanzania for game viewing.
The president told residents of Mpimbwe in Mlele district that she would engage in a publicity campaign of Katavi National Park following a request from former Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda who said the area deserves international recognition for its vast wealth of wildlife.
“I admit that all the qualities that the former Prime Minister described regarding the many attractive wild animals in this park are genuine,” President Samia said, adding “I passed through this national park to see how it looks like and to assess its needs.”
She continued: “We’ve seen so many things which can be done to uplift the park’s status as the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism is working on the Royal Tour film. I’ll come for the launch of such project.”
Established in 1974, the 4,471 sq-km Katavi National Park is known for its massive herds of buffaloes and numerous elephants, populations of lions, painted wolves, cheetahs, hyenas, elands and antelopes, to mention few.
It is the most remote, vast, natural and pristine park in Africa.
