Prime Minister solicits support for battle against violence to children

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has urged Tanzanians to continue waging a relentless battle against all forms of violence to children which lead to some of them running away from their families and seeking refuge elsewhere.

He said children are the human resource base of the nation, thus they need protection from the community and authorities empowered to defend their rights.

The Prime Minister made the call at a luncheon organised for children living at the SWACCO centre in Songea municipality, where he urged social welfare officers to identify and solve critical problems experienced by the children.

He also urged the ministry responsible for children welfare to cooperate with various stakeholders to speed up the pace of educating parents/guardians on matters affecting children lives.

“I thank stakeholders and sponsors for creating an enabling environment for their supervision of this centre to ensure that children get their basic services and needs,” he said.
