President Samia visits disaster stricken Katesh in Manyara

President Samia Suluhu Hassan cuddles baby Wina Joseph (one year and eight months) at Tumaini Hospital in Hanang District, Manyara Region yesterday after making a general assessment of the government and other aid groups’ response to the Katesh catastrophe which has claimed 76 lives so far and inflicted heavy damage to properties and infrastructure.

The President consoled the survivors of the disaster, sheltered in various public places including schools and other makeshift structures, promising that the government would help resettle them as soon as possible and ensure life returns to normal in Katesh.
