President Samia saddened by death of Namibian President Geingob

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed her deep sorrow following the death of Namibian President Hage Geingob early today while undergoing cancer treatment.

She said in condolence message send to the Namibian people that the departed 82-year-old leader was a venerable Pan-Africanist and a great friend of Tanzania.

“On behalf of the people of Tanzania, I send my condolences to the people of Namibia, family, friends and comrades in SWAPO – the ruling political party.”

Upon the attainment of Namibia’s independence in 1990, the fallen liberation struggle hero became the first Prime Minister of this country.

He and other Namibian freedom fighters such as ex-presidents Sam Nujoma and Hifikepunye Pohamba respectively waged a relentless war against colonialism while staying in camps in the Tanzanian soil.
