President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA).

To convey the good news to President Samia was the GCA Chairperson Ban Ki-moon who is also a former UN Secretary General, on the sidelines of the Africa Climate Summit held recently in Nairobi, Kenya.

The honour to President Samia is in recognition of her leadership and relentless efforts to tackle the effects of climate change in Africa and the world, where Tanzania is known to be implementing a number of projects.

Other members of the GCA board include; Senegalese President Macky Sall, Chairperson of African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, African Development Bank President Akinumwi Adesina and IMF Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva.

GCA is an international organization based in The Netherlands, working as a solution broker to accelerate action and support for adaptation solutions and has so far been able to secure USD 50 billion.

Tanzania is among the countries which will benefit from the funding for the next three years.
