President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday revoked the appointment of Zuhura Sinare Muro as chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) in what is seen as a clean-up campaign against maladministration in her government.

TTCL is a telecommunications company owned wholly by the government. It was established in 1994 after the dissolution of the Tanzania Posts and Telecommunications Corporation which separated the telecommunications business from the postal business services.

A State House statement released in Dodoma said President Samia also took harsh measures by revoking the appointment of the TTCL director-general Peter Rudolph Ulanga.

The axe also fell on Brigadier General Yohana Ocholla Mabongo, the chairman of the Posts Corporation Board of Directors together with the corporation’s Postmaster General Maharage Aly Chande.

The clean-up campaign left no stone unturned with the annulment of the appointment of Prof John Nkoma, the chairman of the Board of Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF), together with the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer Justina Tumaini Mashiba.
