Police held for gunning down bodaboda

Police force in Tarime/Rorya are holding in custody a rank-and-file no. H 4489 PC Kululetela, for shooting dead a motorcycle rider(bodaboda) in Tarime district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Ng’ondi Marwa Masiaga (22), a resident of Regorya in Tarime town of Mara region.

Tarime Rorya Regional Police Commander (RPC) ACP Godfrey Sarakikya told reporters in his office yesterday evening that the police from Sirari Police post is being held at Tarime Police Station, pending investigation of the incident, promising that legal procedures will follow promptly.

The RPC described the shooting which occurred yesterday while the bodaboda was reportedly in his normal business as unacceptable.“What he did is against the laws of the land and he is supposed to be held accountable for that “, the top regional police cop said on part of his press statement a few hours after the shooting.

The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi(CCM) in Tarime district and the bodaboda traders in the district also condemned the shooting .
