The police have joined President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s tourism promotion drive to attract more local and foreign tourists to visit the country’s exciting and abundant tourist attractions.
“The wish of the Honourable President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is to revitalise our country’s tourism industry by increasing the number of holidaymakers from within and outside Tanzania. It is our outmost responsibility to ensure that tourists visiting our country are safe,” said Commissioner of Police Awadhi Haji, the Head of Operations and Training in the police force, who yesterday led a delegation of policemen in a visit of Arusha National Park.
He said the police force has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Tourism Training College to build the capacity of policemen and women on matters related to the handling of tourists visiting the country.
The police delegation to the Arusha National Park had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the various tourist attractions available at the park which has set the goal opening a geopark and launching canyoning as new products.
”It’s a privilege for us to visit this national park which has various attractions. This visit is to support efforts by Her Excellency the President in promoting our country’s tourism industry,” CP Haji said.
He said the visit of Arusha National Park would enhance relations and solve security challenges faced by stakeholders in the tourism sector.
Welcoming the delegation, the head of the Arusha National Park, Assistant Commissioner of Conservation, Yustina Kiwango, said her organisation enjoys friendly relations with the police force when it comes to dealing with the security and safety of tourists.
