PMO team of directors visits Barrick North Mara to assess youth, community empowerment initiatives

A high-profile team of directors from the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment and People with Disabilities is on a visit to Barrick North Mara Goldmine to assess how both Barrick Corporation and Twiga Minerals Corporation are creating job opportunities for the youth and empowering communities economically.

The delegation, led by the Director of Employment Promotion, Yohana Madadi, held discussions with their hosts on such key issues as youth employment and community empowerment, environmental conservation, security and efforts to fight the problem of intrusion of the goldmine by groups of gangsters.

“We’ve come to see and evaluate their investment in these areas and how we can cooperate in promoting employment for the youth,” Madadi said yesterday shortly after arriving at one of the country’s largest gold mines located in Tarime District, Mara region.

Other members of the delegation are the Director of Employment Services, Joseph Nganga, the Director of Youth Development, Mwiga Mbesi and the Director of Market Employment Information, Amosi Nyandwi and the Director of Employment Promotion, Kissa Kilindu.
