President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday made minor changes to her cabinet by appointing Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Dr Pindi Chana the new minister of Natural Resouurces and Tourism.
Dr Chana, who once held the same portfolio, takes over from Angellah Kairuki, now named as presidential advisor.
Two veteran former ministers, Prof Palamagamba Kabudi and William Lukuvi, made a come back to the cabinet.
Prof Kabudi returns to his Justice and Constitutional Affairs ministry while Lukuvi becomes Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office in-charge of Policy, Parliamentary Affairs and Co-ordination.
Jenista Mhagama, who was in-charge of Policy, Parliamentary Affairs and Co-ordination, moves to the health ministry, according to a State House statement released in Dar es Salaam yestetday.
President Samia also appointed Hamza Johari, the new Attorney General after leading the state-run Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority as director-general.
Johari replaces Dr Eliezer Feleshi, who has been named judge of the Court of Appeal.
A former presidential assistant on legal affairs, Samwel Maneno, becomes the new Deputy Attorney-General swapping places with Prof Gaston Kennedy.
The State House statement said anti-corruption czar Commissioner of Police Salum Hamduni has been appointed Shinyanga Regional Administrative Secretary, replacing Prof Siza Tumbo who returns to Sokoine University of Agriculture.
The presidential appointments include transfers of deputy permanent secretaries, District Commissioners and District Administrative Secretaries.
These changes are in line with President Samia’s 4Rs philisophy of reconcilliation, resilience, reform and rebuild.
