A group of 34 women yesterday completed a thirteen – week training programme on business and entrepreneurship, conducted by the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs ( AWE) and sponsored by the US government in Tarime District, Mara Region.
Acting Mara Regional Commissioner Dr Yahaya Nawanda, who was the guest of honour thanked the American Embassy for the valuable training and advised the women to take heed of the lessons learnt to add value to their businesses, without forgetting to reach out to those who were not lucky enough to participate in the programme.
“Use your new knowledge to change your business trends. You also should be good envoys and help other women,” said Dr Nawanda who is the Regional Commissioner for neighbouring Simiyu Region.
Tarime District Commissioner Col. Michael Mntenjele, CMG Group Chairman who is also an ardent AWE stakeholder Christopher Gachuma and the American Embassy Public Affairs Officer, Jeanne Clark attended the closing ceremony held at the CMG Hotel .
Reacting to Dr Nawanda’s remarks, Ms Clark commended Gachuma for playing a part in the training and pledged more support to the women from the American Embassy.
On his part, Gachuma thanked the embassy for honoring his proposal to support women entrepreneurs in Mara Region.
