A video, which went viral, showing a pregnant woman in Kigoma region who delivered her baby without the assistance from a nurse, has led to the suspension of a nursing health worker, Alex Axsan Lyimo, allegedly for negligence.
The incident occurred at Busanza dispensary in Uvinza district early this month, where an unnamed pregnant woman delivered safely her baby without any help from a nurse.
The said woman was discharged from the dispensary on June 10 this year, according to a statement issued yesterday by a spokesman the Ministry responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government.
Reacting to a video which went viral in the social media depicting the woman’s plight, Uvinza District Executive Director, Fred Milanzi, yesterday suspended Lyimo pending investigation into charges of negligence of his duties.
Government has continued to warn irresponsible health workers who violate their professional code of ethics in the performance of their duties.
Public complaints are rife blaming some health personnel who use vulgar language and act recklessly, particularly when attending to pregnant mothers.
