The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has vowed to take stern measures against workers of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) who will be found to have embezzled public money.

A brief press statement issued yesterday in Dodoma said: “The ministry had already begun working on the allegations in collaboration with other state organs before the social media picked up the story.

The NCAA management, according to social media and press reports, has come under the spotlight with claims that an estimated 945m/- have been squandered through dubious payments between October 1, 2023, and February 2, this year.

Local leaders of Olektore ward in Ngorongoro division have urged the government in the spirit of accountability, transparency and good governance to hold the suspects to account for their actions of ‘swindling` government revenue.

It is claimed, according to the media reports, that the NCAA has spent 1.6bn/- between October 2023 and March this year in the Msomera resettlement project in Handeni district without following the laid down procedures on what is termed as “Special Project”.

On March 15, this year, President Samia Suluhu Hassan sacked the NCAA Commissioner of Conservation Richard Kiiza in a statement released by the State House Directorate of Presidential Communication.
