Thirteen workers from the Ministry of Minerals who included personal secretaries, records clerks and office assistants yesterday made a familiarization tour of Barrick Bulyanhulu Mine in Kahama District, Shinyanga Region.

The trip was part of implementation of the resolutions and a pledge made by Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Kheri Mahimbali during a workers’ council meeting which was convened in May, 2023 in Dodoma.

Bulyanhulu Gold mine is a partnership between Barrick Gold Corporation and the Government of Tanzania, through Twiga Minerals.

The tour was aimed at providing capacity building to workers of the ministry and acquaint them with mining activities of large, middle and small-scale mines, being one of its strategies to implement its objectives collectively as a mining family.

While in Bulyanhulu, the group was able to visit the underground mine, processing plant, the Tailings Safe Facility, logistics and some CSR funded projects.

This is the first group of staff from the ministry to visit Barrick Bulyanhulu. Another group of the same rank will be visiting the mine in September.
