Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Local Governments and Regional Administration (TAMISEMI) Mohaned Mchengerwa has suspended the Pangani District Executive Director Isaya Mbenje effective yesterday for failure to executive his duties and causing the non-implementation of planned development projects.
A brief statement issued yesterday in Dodoma by the TAMISEMI Communication Unit said Mbenje’s suspension paves the way for investigations into his alleged performance failure claims.
The minister directed the TAMISEMI Permanent Secretary Adolf Ndunguru to dispatch a team of investigators to the Pangani District Council to examine the allegations in detail before necessary action is taken.
In recent months, the issue of District Executive Directors being taken to task for performance failure has dominated the country’s media, leading to government sackings and appointments of new ones.
