Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) Mohamed Mchengerwa has suspended two district council directors for failure to supervise development projects in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

A statement issued yesterday Tuesday by the ministry’s communication unit named the suspended officials as Butamo Nuru Ndalahwa and Lena Martin Nkaya, the Kibaha and Ifakara District Executive Directors respectively.

The suspension of the two senior officials took effect from yesterday to pave the way for in-depth investigations into claims of failure to oversee implementation of development projects.

According to the statement, Mchengerwa ordered the suspension of the officials after receiving a report from a committee which probed the allegations.

The committee, constituted by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, found glaring weaknesses by the two officials in overseeing the execution of development projects.
