Mara Regional Press Club chair congratulates newly-elected MISA-TAN chief

Mara Regional Press Club (MRPC) chairman, Jacob Mugini, has congratulated his Mwanza Press Club (MPC) counterpart, Edwin Soko (pictured), for being elected the new chairman of the Media Institute of Southern Africa-Tanzania (MISA-TAN).

Soko was elected to that position yesterday December 4, 2024, at a meeting of MISA-TAN stakeholders held in the country’s administrative capital, Dodoma

He takes over from Salome Kitomari who completed her eight-year term of office.

“I’m congratulating MPC chairman Soko for earning the trust of MISA-TAN delegates to lead the sub regional media organisation. I assure him of MRPC continued cooperation in the execution of his new duties,” Mugini said in his congratulatory message today December 5, 2024.

He described Soko as an amiable personality dedicated to the cause of journalism and media freedom.

“I’ve great hope that under your leadership MISA-TAN will attain achievements in having a loud voice in the protection of media freedom and enhancing the journalism profession in Tanzania and Southern Africa respectively,” added Mugini, himself a journalist and editor of the zonal Kiswahili tabloid, SAUTI YA MARA newspaper, with headquarters in Musoma municipality in Mara region.

The Media Institute of Southern Africa is an umbrella organization representing MISA national chapters in the Southern Africa Development Community region.
