Leaky Simba defence awards Yanga 5-1 victory

A second-half onslaught by reigning Tanzania football club champions, Young Africans SC, saw a dramatic collapse of their arch-rivals, Simba SC, who succumbed to a 5-1 defeat at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

It was Yanga who started the game in a high note with a goal scored by Kennedy Musonda in the 6th minute after heading a pass from the right flank slotted by marauding right back Yao Kouassi.

Simba made a quick response by scoring an equalizer before the 10th minute through Kibu Dennis.

The hard-fighting energetic striker had received a corner kick from Saido Ntibazonkinza before sending a rasping header that Yanga goalie Djigui Diarra failed to catch.

However, in the second half, the Simba defence marshaled by Henock Inonga, Che Malone, Shomari Kapombe and Mohamed Hussein went into paralysis, giving room to Yanga strikers to torment their goal as they wanted.

This resulted in four goals scored in succession by Aziz Kid and his company in the Yanga forward line.

Yanga still maintains the top position in the league after accumulating 21 points from eight matches.
