Italy has promised to continue mobilising investors to come to Tanzania and tap the countrys investment potential in various key sectors of the national economy.
” I’ll continue speaking on behalf of Tanzania as an advocate of its immense investment opportunities,” outgoing Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Marco Lompardi, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday during talks with Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
The Italian envoy went to the premier to bid him farewell after completion of his tour of duty in this beautiful country with wonderful natural attractions (Tanzania).
On his part, Majaliwa said Tanzania would continue to be a dependable development partner to Italy as relations between the two have become stronger and stronger each passing day since the early 1960s.
Cooperation between the two countries has involved projects in various sectors, including health, education, environment and agriculture.
Both countries have worked together on initiatives related to environmental conservation and sustainable development, especially in Kilimanjaro region and surrounding areas.
Italy became one of the first countries to open an embassy in Tanzania in 1961, while Italian missionaries arrived in then colonial Tanganyika in 1920 and settled in the present day regions of Iringa, Dodoma and Arusha.
