Hope for Girls, police desk intensify anti-FGM campaigns in Serengeti

Hope for Girls and Women in Tanzania, a local NGO in collaboration with Gender Desk of the police Force and Community Social Development Department have conducted an awareness campaign on the consequences of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early child marriages at Kyambahi Secondary School in Serengeti District, Mara Region.

Addressing the boys and girls of the school an official from the NGO, Emmanuel Goodluck pledged to continue sensitizing the community to shun acts of Gender Based Violence, (GBV) and providing shelter to victims of this vice.

The teachers of the school also attended the GBV class.

An official from the Police Force Gender Desk Sijali Nyambuche counselled the girls to ensure self-awareness and avoid being dragged into getting early pregnancies.

He assured them the desk is available to help them whenever in trouble.
