Grumeti lodge shines on African continent again

One of the world class luxurious lodges owned by Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania has once again been rated high and placed on the list of the top ten best safari lodges on the continent.

In its 2023 latest report, the Wealth Africa named, Sabora Tented Camp which is located in Western Serengeti, Mara region as one of the best lodges in Africa.

This is the third time in a row the lodge appears on Africa’s list of ten best safari lodges, thus helping to market Tanzanian’s tourism industry globally.

Other lodges that have been graded in this category and their countries in brackets include; Cottar’s 1920 Campand Beyond Bateleur Camp (Kenya), Singita Ebony Lodge and Londolozi(South Africa), Sanctuary Chief’s Camp and Xigera Safari Lodge (Botswana), Wilderness Damaraland Camp (Namibia), One & Only Nyungwe House (Rwanda)and Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp (Uganda).

Besides Sabora Tented Camp, Grumeti Reserves also owns and operates several other world class lodges in Mara region, including Sasakwa which has often been named the world’s best hotel. 

River Mara Tented Camp which is also owned by Grumeti Reserves was last year placed on the list of ten best hotels in Africa together with Sabora Tented Camp.

Grumeti Reserves is an eco-tourism company with heavy investment fostering tourism, conservation, and community development in Western Serengeti, Mara Region.

Apart from tourism and conservation, the US investor supports local development in the villages near Ikirongo-Grumeti Game Reserves and Ikona Wildlife Management Area(WMA).

By doing so, the company has managed to change the mindset of a large population of local communities who, in the past, relied on poaching as their source of income, to support ongoing conservation campaigns in the area.

Conservation stakeholders in Serengeti say Grumeti Reserves has valuable contribution to prevention of poaching and sustainable conservation of the game reserves which form integral part of the great Serengeti ecosystem.

The game reserves are seen as potential in terms of wildlife population, investment and income generation for both local and national development.

Apart from beautiful wild animals, the game reserves are also home to the big five, namely: Rhino, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, and Buffalo.
