The Police Force in Mara region has arrested a 25-year-old resident of Namhula village in Bunda district, Muyengi Ruben, allegedly for killing his former wife, Rosemary Malemi.

A statement released yesterday by the Mara Regional Police Commander, ACP Salim Morcase, said that Ruben committed the gender-based violence offence last Saturday January 20 at the village located at Namhula ward, Kenkombyo division in Bunda district.

It is alleged that Ruben had followed his former wife at a paddy farm where she was with her children and brutally used a sharp tool that pierced through Rosemary’s left breast, causing profuse bleeding.

The police statement said the inhuman act was triggered by love matters as Ruben wanted reconciliation in their marriage of which Rosemary categorically refused.

The police force has repeatedly warned Mara residents against taking the law into their hands by committing outrageous offences.
