Geita Regional Commissioner ( RC) Martin Shigella has commended Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) for being the main sponsor of the ongoing Mining Technologies Fair for six years consecutively , saying the move has attracted many exhibitors.
The show has drawn more than 400 exhibitors, up from the previous 250, and countries including Burundi, China, India and DRC are now participating, thanks to the GGML continued sponsorship, said the RC at the Bombambili show grounds in Geita.
According to the RC, Geita Region has a favourable environment for companies engaging in exploration, simple technology, processing and value addition aiming at helping the business of artisanal miners to grow.
“I would like to invite investors interested in mineral processing and value addition to help educate artisanal miners on the best practices in mining so they may not use dangerous chemicals like mercury,” the RC noted.
