Four policemen in Mwanga district, Kilimanjaro region, have been fired from their job following investigations that they had colluded to delete pictures from police cameras they were using to measure speed radar for drivers who contravene traffic rules.
The four policemen, all from the road safety unit, were arrested on May 30, 2024, paving the way for investigations into their conduct, according to a statement released in Dodoma yesterday by police spokesman, DCP David Misime.
The junior policemen appeared before a court-martial and were found guilty to have deleted the pictures from police cameras for their own interest, the statement said.
“They were found guilty on Monday July 8, 2024, and dismissed from the police,” added the statement.
