Death of twins: Four health centre staff to be charged with negligence in Tabora

Four health workers of Kariua Health Centre in Tabora region will be arraigned for allegedly violating work ethics, leading to the death of two premature twin babies.

Tabora Regional Commissioner Dr Batilda Burian named the suspects as Theresia Kakiziba, Asha Magidi, Paulo James and Benson Maikase and has directed that two more staff ( not named)of the same facility be suspended pending investigations in connection with the charges.

RC Burian said preliminary investigations have found that the suspects acted negligently by leaving the premature babies in the maternity ward instead of keeping them in the incubator to save their lives.

Astonishingly, it was also found that one of the twins had some of its body parts chopped off.

“Preliminary investigations show that the significant issue involving the safety of the twin babies was deliberately ignored and that the four workers lied to the investigation team, so they will now be arraigned before the court of law,” she said.
