Tanzania National Parks Deputy Commissioner of Conservation and Business Development, Massana Mwishawa, yesterday led conservation stakeholders, officers, relatives and friends to bid farewell to the body of the fallen Serengenti National Park game warden, Arafat Saidi Miyimba, who was yesterday killed by an elephant.
The 27-year-old game warden was killed while on patrol with six others when chasing elephants which had invaded Mrito village in Tarime district, Mara region.
Mwishawa praised the deceased’s contribution to the wildlife conservation efforts, saying he was a committed and dedicated worker whose example should be emulated.
He appealed to game wardens to be wary of the dangers posed by some wild animals during the performance of their duties.
The body of the fallen conservator was transported to his home village of Changarawe in Morogoro for burial.
